The cat-like animal paced back and forth, eyes focused on his owner, who sat in front of a desk of papers and glowing screens, lost in thought. A moment before, the young man had been muttering something, plotting or some such. The animal didn’t understand his language.

“Your thoughts?” the man asked, looking at the animal expectantly. In reply, it emitted a quiet rumble.

“You’re right,” Rufus conceded with a sigh, “That will never work.” He lightly patted Dark Nation, who contentedly rested his head in his owner’s lap and purred.

“Thank you, you’re always such a good advisor...”
